How to Recover a Forgotton Windows Password


My favorite tool for recovering a forgotton Windows password is ntpasswd, a single bootable CD that loads a Linux image that simply finds the password file on the Windows drive and overwrites it with the password of your choice. This WILL work for administrator password, but WILL NOT work for encrypted drives (most of us do NOT encrypt our drives, and I do not recommend doing so - use truecrypt or 7zip for folder or file-level encryption).
