This is basically a repost of a repost, but it's the one part that I always forgot to do...Geek Thoughts: Making Skype work with PulseAudio in Ubuntu Intrepid and Jaunty
Also, to activate the microphone, I had to go to applications->Multimedia->Gnome ALSA Mixer->And make sure that the check box under "capture" called "rec" was checked.
