GWT is a well known development tool chain that will compile Java software into Javascript for use in web applications. What's great is that similar code will work on the Java server side, the client side in standard Java applications, and on Android. I don't know how this was missed, but a smaller internal Google project just released support for compiling GWT applications to flash now so now all GWT applications could be completely cross-browser compatible. I hope that Google continues development here and brings this to real GWT development - not just games.
